We are a workshop of craftswomen and craftsmen
dedicated to the elaboration of tonas and nahuales,
carved out of copal wood.
Our philosophy is based on communality,
which in Zapotec is called “Guelaguetza” and is focused along three main axes:
To share what you have
To teach what you know
To do something for your people
Since 1994, the workshops function like a school of art and crafts, giving opportunities to our collaborators
so they could acknowledge their talents and have a dignified life and self-develop professionally and humanely
Generating jobs, reducing migration and strengthening the pride and rootedness of young people for their homeland.
We have a deep respect for the environment. We seek to promote a culture of regeneration
and not only the consumption of natural resources through reforestation, the harvesting of water
and the preservation of food sovereignty. We are aware of the impact of the use of raw materials
so we created Palo Que Habla, our bio-conservation project
which allows us to make a responsible consumption of wood and guarantees the continuity of our craft.
We encourage the development of young people through art, sports and culture to break physical and mental boundaries.
We contribute to the integral development of the residents of more than 16 towns in the Ocotlán Valley and to the region’s economy.
Our vision is to transcend historically as a replicable model in peripheral places of the world,
to continue growing creatively, consciously, and communally in labor and market terms.
“May the sun enlighten you and the wind guide you,
may the water and the earth give you what you need so that your body,
soul and spirit may always be together.”
