In 2018, on the occasion to celebrate the 10th anniversary in México, NESCAFÉ Dolce Gusto, with the support of the Popular Art Museum, convoked 10 of the best artisans of alebrijes in Mexico to intervene in the “Genio” machine and propose a design to the new limited edition. The purpose of Taller Jacobo y María Ángeles was selected for collaboration, to give them the chance to share an idea where they show the imagination of their traditional art of the Zapotec symbols with the innovative proposal of NESCAFÉ Dolce Gusto Machines.
This special edition was named “Alebrije Oaxaca ” and took the figures of a red bird and a blue bird, there was the first thing that the masters interpreted as looking for the coffee machine. Part of the economic benefit that they received, was destined for their project of reforestation “Palo Que Habla”, through which reforests around
2,000 trees of copal by year, whose wood is used by the elaboration of alebrijes.
