Where is the workshop?

In the community of San Martín Tilcajete. It takes 40 minutes to get to Oaxaca City by car. the address is Libres #5, 71506 San Martín Tilcajete,
Oaxaca. You can arrive by public transportation.



What are the opening hours?

Monday to Sunday 8:00 am – 6:00 pm
The last tour is at 5:15. If you are late, you’re going immediately to the Gallery
We open 365 days a year.

How Can I go to the workshop if I go by public transportation?

YOU CAN ARRIVE BY:
Private taxi estimated cost MXN 300.00 for the trip. (MXN 600.00 round trip)
PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION
Automorsa Bus. The cost is MXN 25.00 – MXN 35.00, you must ask to get off the bus at the San Martin Tilcajete Stop, in front of Azucena Zapoteca
restaurant. The buses leave from Bustamante 603, 68000, Center of Oaxaca de Juárez, Oaxaca, it takes around 40 minutes or an hour.
Collective taxi. It costs between 30 and 40 pesos and takes 50 minutes to arrive at Tilcajete. You can take the purple taxis that go to Ocotlan or
San Martín Tilcajete. The main reason is you get off San Martín Tilcajete and stop in front of Azucena Zapoteca restaurant.
IMPORTANT
The last transport to Oaxaca leaves at 8:00 pm

1.EAT AT ALMÚ AND GET TO KNOW PALO QUE HABLA. Almú is a steam kitchen in the middle of the forest of copal. It serves memelitas, moles,
and other traditional food. You can accompany them with mezcal or water of fruits. The place is full of beautiful plants and the music is
pleasant. It is an unpretentious place with big amenities.
2. IF YOU ARE LOOKING FOR SOMETHING A LITTLE MORE UPMARKET BUT DELICIOUS, WE RECOMMEND THE RESTAURANT
AZUCENA ZAPOTECA.
It has the best traditional Oaxacan seasoning in the village and the capacity to welcome big groups.
3. PALO QUE HABLA is a bio conservation project that 20 years ago created micro-forests in the Valley of Ocotlán. Its reforestation is beautiful.
It has tour guides for knowing the nursery, the water harvest, the medicinal plants garden, the temazcal, and the pollinating garden. Also, you
can explore by yourself. It is an experience that closes you to nature in a different form.

If you are interested, you can adopt your tree or visit which you had adopted before.
4. TO TAKE A WALKING TOUR AROUND THE MURALS OF HUELLAS TILCAJETE  There are more than 50 incredible murals of different artists in
the town. There is the link for the map that shows you where each of them is, who painted and the year.
5. YOU CAN VISIT THE EXPOSITION IN RUINA, there is a project of residences and artist workshops. Check the schedule and take a walk if you
are interested in contemporary art and artistic research.
6. YOU CAN DRINK A MICHELADA IN THE BOTANERO LOS NIETOS after walking in the sun. Itzel is the owner, and she has an incredible recipe
for chamoy.
7. TO VISIT THE HANDICRAFT WORKSHOPS. Everyone has their style.
8. GO UP THE HILL OF MARÍA SÁNCHEZ. There is a hill full of legends. You can go up for at least an hour and from the top, you can see the whole
Valley of Ocotlán, Zimatlán, and Zaachila.
9. ROCK CLIMBING. If you are a lover of extreme sports, there is a zone of rock climbing on the hill of María Sánchez. For this knowledge is
required and a specialized team.
10. VISIT CLOSERS TOWNS.
A) Santo Tomás Jalieza is famous for its textiles
B) San Antonico Castillo Velazco by its embroideries.
C) You can find the workshop Manos Que Ven by the artisan José García. This is a blind ceramist with a big story.
D) Santa Catarina Minas produces the best mezcales of clay pot. We recommend Graciaela Ángeles de Real Minero or with the Master
Lalo de la Locura.
