Oaxaca Warriors Jersey

Art and sports are two activities that are spread throughout the world and that allow a fraternal approach between individuals, these forms of expression can be seen through the different stages of humanity.

At Taller Jacobo & María Ángeles we understand sports disciplines as mirrors of our artisan practice. We know that sports, as well as craftsmanship, require effort, discipline and inconceivable constancy.

In each project undertaken – as in the baseball field – the Workshop includes values such as solidarity, companionship, tolerance and teamwork, fundamental and necessary tools to obtain the best results

Thanks to these shared values we were able to carry out the design of the official jerseys of the Oaxaca Warriors baseball team for the 2023 season, whose figure wraps the player as if it were the decoration of one of our pieces, accentuating the back, back and chest. Totally organic shapes that lead to sharp angles, which remind us of the roots of a plant, because we must be of sharp origin.

The back of this design refers to an abstract interpretation of corn, the front, on the
other hand, is based on the ears of the maguey. Attention should be paid to the series of
thorns that boldly defend its outline.

These conceptual references have allowed us to generate graphic strategies, within
our artistic resolutions. We have been inspired by the tribal stage of the alebrije of the
90’s, and we have combined it with our interpretation of the flora of the region: corn,
maguey and copal.
