This is the most recent collection of pieces by Taller Jacobo & María Ángeles, an exhibition that invites us to reflect on the authenticity of our relationships and the importance of recovering physical contact and mutual care in a world that often distances us.
Since ancient times, gestures of care and protection have been essential for human survival. This act becomes a communal gesture that strengthens social and emotional ties, highlighting the affective connection in everyday life.
Thus, the pieces in this exhibition are inspired by the apapacho as a symbol of care and affection, but also as a gesture that satisfies the desire to squeeze, to fit and mold to the body of another.

The word “apapacho”, which comes from the Nahuatl “papachoa”, means “to soften with the fingers”. Apapacho is presented as a primitive discovery, an act of encircling and squeezing, where the intention is to destroy the superficial barrier to reveal the inner essence. Just like cracking a nut or peeling a fruit to get to the inside, stroking breaks down barriers to connect with the innermost.
In many species, caresses and hugs are essential to express emotions and strengthen bonds, something that today seems more evident among animals than among humans. This exhibition invites us to reflect on the authenticity of our relationships and the importance of recovering physical contact and mutual care in a world that often distances us.
