When you arrive at the workshop we will introduce you to our world, where the<\/span> %22tonas and nahuales%22<\/span><\/i> live; animals with spirit, carved and decorated with motifs represented in our Zapotec calendar<\/span> . <\/span> We will guide you from start to finish through a journey that covers each of the stages of elaboration of our pieces, explaining in detail how a log of wood can become a work of art. You will have the opportunity to witness up close the processes carried out by the artisans that make up our different areas.<\/span><\/p>\n

The tour consists of the following: first, we will talk about our projects and the vision of the workshop. Then, you will go through a demonstration where you will see how we obtain the natural dyes with which we decorate the pieces. We use insects, plants, seeds, fruits and other natural elements to make the colors. We will tell you about our sacred copal tree, from whose wood we use to create the tonas, and we will tell you which animal is your protector according to the Zapotec calendar.<\/span><\/p>\n

Afterwards, you will learn about the process of elaboration of the pieces: carving, resining and decoration. We will also show you our various innovation projects, such as our line of contemporary jewelry, local clay pottery, and our bio-conservation project. You will finish in the gallery where you can appreciate our current exhibition and acquire, if you wish, a finished piece.<\/span><\/p>\n
